The silvicultural system utilized by Footner Forest Products on the majority of sites involves clearcut harvesting with provision for variable patch retention. Through this modification to the clearcut system, patches that include combinations of merchantable trees, non-merchantable trees and lesser vegetation are strategically retained in areas which are harvested. The retention of these patches mimics the behavior of wildfire (fire skips) and helps to meet stand structure, diversity, wildlife, aesthetic and watercourse protection objectives.

Forest operations are performed in strict accordance with written company expectations that meet or exceed the provincial and regional ground rules.
